Kris Parker, a Principal at Arete Public Affairs, brings over two decades of hands-on experience across federal, state, and local levels of government, specializing in association management and client development. Her extensive background also encompasses association management, coalition building, grassroots management, and government relations strategy, coupled with advocacy and policy research. She offers strategic guidance to clients in both private and public sectors, equipping them with solutions that deliver tangible results.
Before joining Arete Public Affairs, Kris served as an Associate for Texas Star Alliance for nearly a decade, focusing on drafting legislation, conducting detailed policy analysis, coordinating legislative efforts, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders to advance client policy objectives.
In addition, Kris served as Vice President of Membership and Education at the Association of Rural Communities in Texas (ARCIT), where she demonstrated adept management skills in overseeing association membership initiatives. Her responsibilities encompassed recruitment, retention, education, and communication strategies. Notably, Kris played a pivotal role in securing over $250,000 in funding for the organization.
Prior to her role at Arete Public Affairs, Kris Parker served as Deputy District Director for United States Representative Michael McCaul in Austin, TX, for over 11years. Her experience in building relationships with constituents and government entities, coupled with her adeptness in constituent service management, uniquely positions her to address client needs in public affairs.
Kris began her career as a policy analyst for then-state senator, Tom Haywood, before assuming the role of clerk for the Texas Senate Agriculture Committee. In this capacity, she contributed significantly to drafting and gaining support for key legislative initiatives, including the inaugural state Agriculture Policy. In addition, Kris served as Government Relations Director for both the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and the Texas Residential Construction Commission.
She is also active in her community, serving as a member of the National Charity League Round Rock Chapter where she previously served as a member of the Young Men’s Service League Brushy Creek Chapter. In 2018, she chaired the Round Rock ISD Bond Committee, helping to successfully pass a $508 million bond proposition.
Kris earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Texas State University. A native of La Grange, Texas, she has been married to her husband, Mark, for 23 years, and they have three children.
