Elyse's Bio
Elyse Derian, a Principal at Arete Public Affairs, brings invaluable expertise to global corporations, trade associations, and philanthropic organizations. With over two decades of experience in public affairs and political arenas, she is dedicated to helping clients articulate their narratives, navigate reputational challenges, and advocate for key issues.
Prior to joining Arete Public Affairs, Elyse served as Senior Vice President at VOX Global, where she led a team in orchestrating advocacy and reputation campaigns for Fortune 100 companies across the nation. Her achievements included crafting impactful digital and social media narratives, collaborating with journalists to shape media stories, and fostering employee engagement through internal communication channels.
In addition, Elyse played a pivotal role in directing Governor Rick Perry’s successful 2010statewide re-election campaign in Texas, focusing on the critical Houston/Galveston region. Here, she masterminded a comprehensive field strategy, secured support from elected officials and community leaders, organized campaign events, and expertly managed the region's social media presence.
Elyse’s career journey began on Capitol Hill, where she served as a legislative assistant for Congressman Ed Royce (CA-39) and Congressman Duncan D. Hunter(CA-52). In these influential roles, she formulated policy initiatives and legislative strategies spanning financial services, energy, education, and trade.
A graduate of the University of Southern California with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Business Marketing, Elyse currently resides in Austin. Beyond her professional pursuits, she finds joy in experimenting with new recipes and hosting vibrant dinner parties alongside her husband, Matt, and their four children. An avid marathon runner and dedicated parent, she prioritizes an active lifestyle while remaining fully engaged in her family's activities.
